Tinkering Thursday
Ok all you DIY’ers - this page is for you! Home improvement, crafts, repurpose and reuse!
There’s just something about a beautiful space, that makes you never want to leave. For more visual interest in any room add area rugs, throw pillows, cozy blankets, and other textiles. On the walls consider using paint, wallpaper, cool textures like wood, or even just one fun accent wall. These choices can help you get the most out of any room in your home.
Because the cost of diamonds and precious metals rise over time, have your wedding ring appraised every five years. With an appraisal that’s a decade old, the recorded value of your ring will likely be far less than what it’s actually worth. And you want to make sure you receive the full current value of the ring should anything happen to it.
Chlorine bleach is a mainstay in most laundry rooms. We use it to whiten clothes, remove stains, and disinfect laundry. If you aren’t getting the whitening results you want with chlorine bleach, change the water temperature you’re using. Chlorine bleach works most effectively in hot water. It can be used in warm and cold water, but you may not see the results you expect.
Did you know that when you donate clothing items to Goodwill that are not in perfect condition because they have a stain, a hole or tear, only one sock not a pair, etc. they do not throw them away. Many of these items get cut into rags for industrial use and 20% is processed into soft fiber filling for furniture, mattresses, home insulation, car sound-proofing, and more. 😊
Instead of occupying potential clothing storage or what I like to call “prime real estate” with T-shirts & sweatshirts that are no longer being worn, consider pulling all the memory shirts out. You can either store them somewhere else or what I like to do with them is have a memory quilt made. These shirts have unforgettable stories, so why not preserve those stories with a personal memory quilt. No one else can have your story. The memories you created are yours and yours alone. That’s why a memory quilt is the perfect way to preserve those amazing memories that all your shirts represent.
People start upcycling projects for lots of different reasons, and it’s often motivated by environmental concerns. Upcycling has been come extremely popular in recent years partly because its most environmentally friendly way to recycle, because it doesn’t involve additional raw materials or lots of energy. However, there are lots of other benefits. Saving Money - You really can’t beat repurposing something you already own in terms of cost effectiveness. Creativity - Planning and executing an upcycle project is an amazing creative outlet. Satisfaction - There’s nothing like seeing your hard work being used and appreciated every single day.
